impact:
In 2011, Aurora was hit by Hurricane Irene and suffered significant damage from which it has yet to recover. In 2021, an effort was undertaken to develop the Town of Aurora’s first strategic plan to give it a roadmap for revitalization efforts, improvements, and a path to the future. The process was led by several PARTP board members, with input and assistance from community volunteers and leaders throughout the area. The strategic plan was finalized in summer 2022, and now serves as the guiding document for all of PARTP’s efforts.

aurora industrial park:
Construction of the Aurora Industrial Park began in early October 2023. This remarkable investment is a major step toward revitalization of Aurora, and will provide the town with better prospects for a grocery store and new housing. Nearly half of project funding will underwrite infrastructure development; the remainder will pay for construction of an Aurora Campus of the Beaufort County Community College. Welders, diesel mechanics, pipefitters, and others will be trained there for skilled, high-paying jobs in mining and industry. Courses in general education will be offered to residents of Richland Township and other surrounding areas. The industrial park is located on NC 33 near the Aurora Fire Department.
